Crete Faces Scheduled Power Outages as DEDDIE Carries Out Infrastructure Works

Wednesday, 24 June 2026/SourceCretaOne/1 min read
Planned power outages are scheduled across several areas of Crete today, Wednesday 25 June, as DEDDIE (the Hellenic Electricity Distribution Network Operator) carries out maintenance, reinforcement, and upgrade works on local electrical infrastructure. These are scheduled interruptions, not emergency failures. Affected areas have been notified in advance by the operator. If you are staying in or traveling through Crete today, be aware that your accommodation, restaurant, or attraction may experience temporary loss of electricity. It is advisable to charge devices, download offline maps, and carry cash as card terminals may be offline during outages. Refrigeration in smaller establishments could be affected, so check food and drink freshness. Outages are typically completed within a few hours. For the full list of affected municipalities and estimated restoration times, contact your accommodation or check the DEDDIE website directly.
