Back to newsOn Sunday, June 21, 2026, the Venizeleio Conservatory of Chania (Βενιζέλειο Ωδείο) hosts a free outdoor concert to mark World Music Day, starting at 7:30 PM in its courtyard. World Music Day, celebrated annually on the summer solstice, originated in France and is now observed in cities worldwide with free public performances. The Venizeleio Conservatory has been participating in this tradition for several years, making it a recurring cultural highlight in western Crete. Tourists staying in or around Chania can attend the event at no cost. The conservatory is located in the city center, easily reachable on foot from the Old Town and the Venetian Harbor. No ticket or reservation is required. Dress for a warm June evening and arrive early to find a good spot in the courtyard.
