Scale Models Exhibition Brings Cretan History to Life

Thursday, 14 May 2026/Haniotika Nea/1
A scale modeling exhibition by Cretan artist Yannis Gkagklakis is on display at the Megalo Arsenali (Great Arsenal) in Chania until May 26. The exhibition features detailed miniature models depicting scenes from everyday life in Crete across earlier centuries, alongside recreations of significant events from the island's modern history. It offers visitors a visual journey through Cretan heritage in a format that is accessible regardless of language barriers. The Great Arsenal is a historic Venetian waterfront building located in the old harbor area of Chania, easy to reach on foot from the main tourist center. Admission details are available on-site. The exhibition is suitable for all ages and provides meaningful context for understanding the cultural and historical layers that shaped Crete as it exists today.
