Chania welcomed over 6,600 visitors in a single day as three cruise ships arrived simultaneously at the port of Souda. The triple arrival created unusually high foot traffic throughout the city, particularly in the Old Town, the Venetian Harbour, and the covered market area.
Tourists already staying in the region should expect busier conditions in central Chania, including longer waits at popular restaurants, cafes, and archaeological sites. Parking near the waterfront will be limited, and taxis may be in short supply during peak hours.
The port of Souda, located approximately 7 kilometres east of Chania city centre, serves as the main cruise terminal for the western Crete region. Visitors arriving by cruise should allow extra time for transfers into town and plan their sightseeing accordingly during this high-traffic window.
