Lire l'histoire

The Gorge of Tromarissa is located near the village Zourva and it is said that it gets its name after the myths about fairies and goblins that scared passersby at the position where we meet the spring of Tromarissa ( tromazo means scare in Greek). It is a technical canyon that starts its course below the peak Agavani of the White Mountains and its exit is located near Zourva , while along it flows the Ambelitsiotis River (or Zourvanos ).

A hiking trail passes by the gorge, while other paths start from the area of the spring in the direction of the White Mountains and Pera Gourgouthes . In the course of the stream there are about 40+ rappels (waterfalls) of medium height, with the highest being 17m and it takes 6 hours for a small group of canyoners to cross it.

The Mountaineering Club of Chania (ΕΟΣ Chania) has bolted the descents to Zourva with double bolts.
