Sitia is the easternmost city on Crete and is located 64km east of Agios Nikolaos . The wider area of Sitia province hosts several small beaches where you can enjoy the sun and the sea.

However, some who prefer to stay close to town, can visit the long city beach. The beach of Sitia is located east of the city and extends from the port to the area Petras on the east.

Sitia beach is mainly sandy and has small pebbles in some places, while the water is shallow. It is very well organized with umbrellas, showers, lifeguard, beach / water sports, beach bars, but along its long shore you can find plenty of quiet places, especially on the east.

Lastly, on the east side there is room for campervans and a few trees. East of the area of Petras, you can visit the ruins of an ancient city in Trypitos Cape , which is believed to be Itia, the birthplace of the Wise Myson.

Moreover, in Petras archaeologists have identified remains from different periods of the Minoan era. West of the archaeological site of Trypitos, another small beach is formed, Karavopetra .

Karavopetra means "Ship Stone", named after the boulder in the sea where the ships used to stop.
