Saint George church at Kastelana

At the position Kastelana southwest of village Kalamafka, at the beginning of the Hayra Gorge, there are three very old churches; Panagia Kalafatiani, the Holy Cross and Saint George. The church of Saint George (Agios Georgios) is a single-nave vaulted temple and bears well-preserved 13th and 14th century wall paintings.

The temple seems to have functioned as a convent, as evidenced by the ruins of buildings that were probably the monks' cells.
