Lagada beach

Lagada is located 29km east of Ierapetra , 62km southeast of Agios Nikolaos , and 6km east of Makrigialos . It is situated in a large fertile valley with many olive groves, which is surrounded by the tall mountains of Thripti .

During the last years, some hotels and rooms to let have been built, but the beach still retains its remoteness. To get here from Makrigialos you should follow the road to Sitia and then follow the signs on the way to Moni Kapsa .

After 500-800m you will see several greenhouses and the long Lagada beach on your right hand. There are some roads that start next to the greenhouses and head to the beach.

The beach has small pebbles and crystal clear water. It is completely deserted and you will not find anything on the beach.

It is ideal for naturists and campers, as there are few places with tamarisk trees. On the west the water is colder, because the small torrent Andromilos flows there.

The beach is open to the south winds and is considered a good place for windsurfing in Crete , although the rocky seabed makes it somehow risky.
