Lire l'histoire

Kastri is located 72km southeast of Heraklion , in the sheltered bay of Keratokambos . It is the biggest of the two settlements of the region (the second is Keratokambos ), which are now united.

In recent years Kastri has faced considerable development in tourism, highly enforced by the surrounding beaches. Indeed, many families who love this quiet and friendly place come more than one time per year.

Kastri can be accessed by car via the road connecting Ano Viannos to Heraklion (45'-55 '). Kastri has a unique port in the wider region, serving the local fishermen and boats.

Adjacent to the port (to the west), there is a small beach. It is a beautiful sandy beach, with tamarisk trees around.

The amenities of the village (rooms, taverns, shops, etc) are very close and therefore it is one of the most popular beaches around. West of this beach, there is the long beach Skouros .

In Kastri you can visit the Church of St. Demetrius Galatoktistos , which was formerly a monastery, and the chapel of St.

George Vagionitis , which is surrounded by a lush garden.
