Church of Archangel Michael in Lakonia

Just outside the village of Lakonia near Agios Nikolaos we meet the small single-nave arched temple dedicated to Archangel Michael . The church interior retains excellent murals from 1431 and 1432.

Evangelical scenes are limited to five, while scenes from Michael Archangel's circle include Nathan the Prophet with David, the archangels announcing the remission of sins to David, the Miracle of the Archangel Michael at Colossae, and the Assembly of Archangels Michael and Gabriel. The four founders of the temple are also depicted: Michael and Nikolaos Mochiotis, dressed in local costumes, with the youngest holding an arrow and a bow, and Ioannis Mochiotis with his wife offering a miniature of the temple.
