The beach of Charakiani is located below the church of Panagia Charakiani , which is the second most visited pilgrimage site in Crete and belongs to the Melidoni village. Here there is a fairly rocky beach with large pebbles, which is popular mainly with fishermen.
In some places there is a sandy bottom. The beach is very easily accessible via a short path that starts from the church and the National Road.
It is very easy to locate, since there is the islet of Nissaki right opposite.
