Armenopetra beach is bounded on the east by the river Skoutaris and on west by the hamlet of Monobouka (5km east of Keratokambos ). This is one of the most beautiful beaches in the region of Keratokambos.

The name Armenopetra means Sailing Rock in Greek and is taken after the characteristic great rock in the middle of the beach. Armenopetra has small pebbles mixed with sand and beautiful blue shallow water.

The region is not developed and there is nothing on the beach, except from a few greenhouses with bananas and vegetables. Thus, you can find a comfortable place on the beach where you will be alone or nude.

Pahia Ammos beach West of Armenopetra (the rock) some low sandhills are formed, called Pahia Ammos (= thick sand) , which unfortunately in recent years have undergone a major downsizing by irrigation pipes flowing on the dunes for a long time. The resulting mud was later hardened.

It is noticeable that such sanddunes are a special and rare ecosystems in Crete, with rare species of plants and animals living there. If you're lucky, you'll see the beautiful white lilies of sand, which sign the end of the summer.

Peristerionas Cape The last part of the beach before moving from Keratokambos to the area of Arvi is the tip of Cape Peristerionas , below the the greenhouses of Vahoudianos Xerokambos. It is completely unorganized and is almost always empty.

You should however note that there is no natural shade around, thus taking an umbrella would be a good idea. It has beautiful fine sand and some little rocks on its east side.
