Crete battles multiple wildfires; Lasithi area evacuated near Ierapetra

One of the fires, located near Bramiana in the Lasithi regional unit, prompted authorities to activate the emergency alert system (112), with residents urged to evacuate toward the nearby town of Ierapetra. The Bramiana fire is now reported to be subsiding. Ierapetra is a popular coastal destination on the southern coast of eastern Crete.
