Back to newsSunday, July 5 brings typical midsummer conditions across Crete. Temperatures are expected to reach 33 to 36 degrees Celsius in inland areas, with coastal zones remaining slightly cooler due to sea breezes. The north coast, including Heraklion and Rethymno, will likely experience moderate Meltemi winds, which can make beach conditions choppy in exposed areas. The south coast around Matala and Ierapetra should see calmer seas. No rainfall is expected. Skies will be clear to partly cloudy throughout the day. Visitors are advised to carry water, apply sunscreen regularly, and avoid prolonged outdoor activity between 12:00 and 16:00. Hikers planning routes such as Samaria Gorge should start early in the morning. Evening temperatures will drop to around 23 to 25 degrees, making outdoor dining and walks comfortable after sunset.
