Back to newsGreece's National Tourism Organization (EOT) has launched a promotional campaign targeting the Netherlands to boost visitor interest in Eastern Crete and the island of Thassos. The initiative aims to attract Dutch travelers to lesser-visited destinations beyond the more established tourist zones of western and central Crete.
Eastern Crete encompasses areas such as Lasithi, Agios Nikolaos, Elounda, Ierapetra, and the Sitia region, known for their quieter beaches, Minoan archaeological sites, and the Lassithi Plateau. The Dutch market is one of the stronger European sources of visitors to Greece.
For tourists, this campaign may translate into improved direct flight connections from Dutch cities and expanded package offerings to the eastern part of the island. Travelers looking to avoid crowds may find Eastern Crete an appealing alternative during the summer season.
