Greece Launches E-Charter Platform for Faster Yacht Rentals

Saturday, 9 May 2026/CretaOne/1
Greece's Minister of Maritime Affairs, Kikilias, announced the launch of the e-charter party system at the port of Lavrio. The new digital platform replaces paper-based charter agreements for yacht rentals, streamlining the process for both operators and customers across all Greek ports, including those in Crete such as Heraklion, Chania, and Rethymno. For tourists planning a sailing or yacht charter holiday in Crete, this means faster booking and check-in procedures, less paperwork at the marina, and a more straightforward experience when hiring vessels. The reform is part of a broader government push to grow Greece's yachting sector and reduce administrative friction. Charter companies operating in Cretan waters are expected to adopt the system in the coming months. Visitors interested in island-hopping by boat can ask their charter operator whether they are already using the new digital process.
