Back to newsA new large-scale tourism development has received environmental approval in the Mirabello area of eastern Crete. The project centers on a 5-star hotel with 374 beds and includes supporting infrastructure such as a desalination plant, water drilling wells, and underground pedestrian passages. Mirabello Bay, located near Agios Nikolaos, is one of eastern Crete's most scenic coastal areas, known for its calm waters and easy access to the Lasithi plateau and the island of Spinalonga. The environmental permit marks a significant step forward, though construction timelines have not yet been announced. Visitors to eastern Crete can expect this investment to bring upgraded hospitality standards to the region in the coming years. For now, the area remains fully accessible and continues to offer beaches, local tavernas, and historic sites without disruption.
