Back to newsThe Marella Discovery 2, a cruise ship operated by Marella Cruises, is currently undergoing a renovation that includes redesigning spaces previously dedicated to children. As part of these changes, the ship is scheduled to call at Chania, on the northwest coast of Crete, in 2027. Chania is one of Crete's most visited ports, known for its Venetian harbour, old town, and easy access to beaches and gorges in the region. The vessel's inclusion of Chania in its future itineraries signals continued growth in cruise tourism to western Crete. Visitors arriving by cruise in Chania typically dock at the port of Souda, around 7 kilometres from the city centre, with taxis and local buses available for the short transfer into town.
