Back to newsRestoration and maintenance works on the Morosini Fountain in Heraklion have been postponed to September, according to an announcement from the Greek Ministry of Culture. The decision follows public reactions to the originally planned schedule. The Morosini Fountain, located in Lions Square in the heart of Heraklion, is one of the city's most iconic Venetian landmarks and a popular meeting point for visitors. Tourists visiting Heraklion this summer can still see the fountain as normal, as works will not begin until September. If you are planning a visit to Crete in early autumn, be aware that the area around Lions Square may be partially affected by restoration activity from September onwards.
