BOAK Highway Closed Thursday Morning for Pedestrian Bridge Work

The BOAK highway will be temporarily closed on Thursday, June 4, between 9:00 and 10:00 AM near Kournas, due to installation works on a pedestrian bridge. During this one-hour window, all vehicles will be redirected onto the old national road. If you are driving along the northern coastal route between Rethymno and Chania that morning, plan for potential delays and allow extra travel time. Following signage toward the old national road will be essential, as the main highway will be inaccessible. The closure is brief and limited to that specific stretch near Kournas Lake. Outside of that hour, the BOAK is expected to operate normally.
