Leer la historia

In the wild Asterousia Mountains and on the dirt road that leads from Kapetaniana to Tripiti we meet the old chapel of Panagia Zoodochos Pigi (Life-Giving Spring). The church was the central temple of a small monastery of the 13th century that developed very close to a small water source.

However, traces of buildings from the Minoan, Hellenistic and Roman eras can be seen, a fact that is connected with the small, but the very important source that today quenches the thirst of the goats of the area. Today the visitor can see the remains of the buildings and the beehives built by the monk Theodoulos Tzermiadakis , who came from Zaros and is buried in place.

Theodoulos baptized children and always gave the names of the local Ten martyrs of Gortyn ( Agathopos, Vassilidis, Gelasios, Evarestos, Eunikianos, Euporos, Zotikos, Theodoulos, Pompios, and Satourninos ).
