Lord Christ Church at Eleftherna

The double church of the Transfiguration of Christ (Sotiras Christos) and Saint John (Agios Ioannis) is located in the cemetery of the current settlement of Ancient Eleftherna , in a lush green position and close to a spring of fresh water. The original church of the 10th century bears frescoes of the 12th century, has a dome and was built on the ruins of an older temple of the 6th century.

In the dome there is a fresco of the Pantocrator of high quality, while on the floor there is a tomb. Later in the 16th century a second temple was added next to the first.

The church was probably the Diocese of Elefterna .
