Leer la historia

Glykys Kolymbos beach (or Glykos Kolymbos ) is the westernmost of all the beaches in the area of Tris Ekklisies in the Asterousia Mountains . It is a special place with impressive geological formations in the water, which from above look like stripes.

It gets its name ( sweet water beach ) from the underwater springs that gush fresh water. But what distinguishes Glykys Kolympos are the three amazing caves at the eastern end, which communicate with each other like rooms.

The largest cave is 20 meters high, while the first cave resembles a swimming pool. An impressive stone bridge is formed at the tip of the east end.

Access is mainly by boat, due to the hard approach from the mainland. However, one can descend to the beach through a steep ravine after the western end of the beach.

This ravine is located under a small sheepfold, at the point where the dirt road that crosses the carob wood of Tris Ekklisies ends. Due to the poor condition of the dirt road, access is usually on foot from the beach of Ornios to the west, along the steep shores, where you can admire the cliffs with the natural arches.

Above the point where the dirt road ends, a unique natural balcony is formed, a rock shelter, with a very beautiful sea view.
