Chrissi Akti beach (Golden Beach) in Chania

The Golden Beach (greek: Hrissi Akti) is located 2.5km west of Chania city and a few meters east of Agii Apostoli . It actually consists of two sandy beaches separated by some rocks.

The west cove is the main Golden Beach and the east one is called Aptera Beach . The west bay, which is the most popular, is very well organized with umbrellas, lifeguards, showers, cafes, water sports, etc.

It has fine golden sand and shallow waters, making it ideal for young children. Moreover, there is a playground for kids nearby.

Aptera beach The sandy beach of Aptera, located on the other side of the rocks, is more peaceful and less organized. The beach is very nice and suitable for those who seek a place with relatively few people, close to Chania.

The whole area of Agii Apostoli is full of small parks with pines and eucalyptuses. Golden Beach can be accessed either by bus from Chania or on foot.
