Sunday, 24 May 2026/SourceCretaOne/1 min read
A traffic accident occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning at a central location in Agios Nikolaos, the main town on the eastern coast of Crete. An electric scooter rider lost control, slipped, and was thrown onto the road surface. An ambulance from EKAB, the Greek national emergency medical service, responded promptly to the scene. Agios Nikolaos is a popular destination for tourists, known for its scenic harbor and lakeside cafes. Visitors renting electric scooters or bicycles in the area should exercise caution, particularly on roads that may be slippery at night or in the early morning hours. Always wear a helmet, stay alert on central streets with traffic, and avoid riding at dawn when visibility and road conditions can be unpredictable.
