Shelter Tavri

The shelter of Tavri is located in the White Mountains at an altitude of 1200m at the plateau of Tavri , near Askyfou . It can be access either by hiking 1:30 hours in the cypress wood starting from the village Ammoudari or driving a 7.5km long dirt track.

From this shelter one can walk to Kastro peak, cross Sfakiano Gorge , approach Kali Laki and Kavi Gorge , or walk to the shelter Katsiveli through the E4 European footpath . The shelter was built in 1992 and has modern facilities.

It can accommodate 45 people and is available upon request from the Mountaineering Club of Chania (eoshanion.gr). The shelter is heated by fire, electrified by generator, watered by tap and there are toilets and showers.
