Saint Onoufrios monastery at Akoumia

The deserted monastery of Saint Onuphrius (Agios Onoufrios) is built on a steep ravine of Asiderotas range with vertical cliffs, next to a spring with cool water and below a waterfall (dry in summer). The place has amazing views to the sea of Triopetra .

Around the cavernous church we see the old cells of the monks. The church celebrates on 12 June, the feast day of Saint Onuphrius .

Next to the church, there is the empty grave of the monk Gerasimos , who lived in this hermitage in the middle of the 19th century and was regarded as saint by locals.
