Orne Pond

The pond of Orne is located at an altitude of 300m at the southeastern slopes of Mount Kedros , about 500m northeast of the village Orne in Agios Vasilios province. The distance from Rethymnon city is about 50km.

This small seasonal lake is formed in the winter by the spring waters of the area transferred from the snowy peaks of Kedros . It is shaped at a small recess of the land covering an area of approximately 1 hectare, surrounded by olive groves.

In summer the area gets dry. The lake is surely worth a visit in winter, while you can admire the numerous waterfalls of Kedros , by taking a drive along the cliffs (towards Spili ).
