At Asterousia Mountains , because of the very low rainfalls, the existence of a spring of water played a key role during the selection of places to develop settlements. Such a small settlement, in which the existence of springs favored its development was the settlement Goulis Metohi , known to the shepherds mainly as North (Vorinos) Agios Nikitas .

The common name of the settlement is taken after the picturesque church of Saint Nikitas , perhaps an old monastery, while the adverd north is used to distinguish it from other monastery of Agios Nikitas , the famous pilgrimage near Maridaki . North Agios Nikitas can be accessed through Philipi village and after following the road to Maridaki .

The area hosts several spings and, unlike the typical barren and dry Asterousia , here you will see many trees such as fig, almond and pear trees planted on terraces that were once built by the inhabitants of the place to keep the soil and cultivate their land . Today most houses have collapsed.

Apart from the small church of Saint Nikitas , a few meters away, we meet the church of Saint Ephrem .
