Monastery of Virgin Mary Theogennitor

The Monastery of Virgin Mary Theogennitor is located very close to Mohos and is built on a unique location with views of the coast of Stalis. The monastery, although new, has gained a great reputation mainly because of its founder father Apostolos.

Apostolos was a former monk of the monastery of St. John in Anopolis and in 2009 he was evicted and founded this monastery.

The monastery was famous throughout Greece in 2009 for the story of a young Greek actress, Natalia Lionaki, who moved to the monastery for 7 months. All Greek gossip shows displayed the desperation of the mother of the actress, who accused the monk that lured her daughter to monasticism, but Natalia supported Apostolos.

Since then, flocks of people arrive at the monastery and many of them consider Apostolos as a modern saint.
