Archaeological Collection of Malevizi

The Archaeological Collection of Malevizi is housed at the Mayor House of Malevizi at Gazi . The collection exhibits about 500 ancient objects, dating from all the periods of Cretan antiquity.

The majority of the exhibits come from the collection of Metaxas , which was maintained by Nikolaos Metaxas from 1959 to 1997. Around 30 more ancient objects from recent excavations, mainly in the area of the municipality, are exposed.

All the findings form a clear picture of the ancient Cretan culture, with examples from almost all forms of art, dating from 4000 BC to the 2nd century AD.
