Panagia monastery at Astirakias

The deserted monastery of the Dormition of Virgin Mary (Panagia) at position Astirakias is built at an idyllic location on the east side of Arkadi Gorge . This small monastery still retains its main church and some traces of the monk cells, while the visitor gets impressed by the terraces that were used to keep the soil for cultivation.

The chapel celebrates on August 23 and is accessed mainly on foot, starting from the Monastery of Arkadi , or by dirt road. At the point, the vegetation is dense and a very nice place with benches has been formed.
