Manikas Plateau

The plateau Manikas is located at the province of Sfakia , at an altitude of 720 meters, between the peaks of Agrimokefala (957m), Papoura (1085m) and Kryoneritis (1261m). Today, the settlement Manikas , after which it gets its name, has been abandoned and is only used by shepherds.

The plateau hosts the beautiful stone-built church dedicated to Saint Manolis (celebr. August 21).

Manikas is the starting point of the beautiful, but steep gorge Skaloti . The plateau can be accessed via a long dirt track that connects Skaloti village with the central road that connects Kallikratis with Asi Gonia .
