Folklore Museum of Agia Marina - Cretan Rural House

The Folklore Museum of Agia Marina - The Cretan rural house , is a non-profit project-exhibition supported by volunteers at Agia Marina , Chania. It opened its doors in 2014 and has received many visitors and schools as guests year round.

Also, it organises traditional feasts and run workshops on traditional olive oil making and weaving art. The museum has a variety of everyday and extraordinary objects initially owned by local families.

New items are added as many people visiting, decide to grant access to their special family heirloom . Although the " Cretan house " is regarded as a museum the owners decided to maintain the character of a rural house of the past era.

Visitors may experience the local tradition and rural life in Crete, learn about the rural architecture and everyday activities, the local customs and tradition, the raki and wine production. They also collect old photos from the village before organised tourism.

The Cretan house is a hotspot for visitors to ask about details, places to visit or relax in a Cretan gathering.
