Church of Panagia Aggelon in Fradio

The Church of Our Lady of Angels (Panagia Aggelon) is located in the rural area of Fradio , between the villages Roufas and Moroni . The church was the temple of the Catholic monastery of Our Lady of the Angels of the Franciscan monks that operated here in the 15th century.

Today the church celebrates the commemoration of the Dormition of Theotokos (15 August) and the Annunciation (25 March) The impressive temple is surrounded by the ruins of the cells and other buildings of the monastery, which was one of the few Catholic monasteries in the Cretan countryside.
