Die Geschichte lesen

Just a few meters east of the busy beach of Boufos , on the coastal road of the village of Sisi , lies a smaller, quieter beach, Avlaki . Despite being so close, Avlaki offers a different experience, more peaceful and natural, ideal for those seeking isolation and authentic contact with the landscape.

The beach is formed at the outlet of a small stream, which also bears the name Avlaki . This stream has formed a ravine in the coastline, creating a small sandy beach.

It is surrounded by rocky formations and has an almost semicircular shape, offering a sense of protection and isolation. Access is easy by car, but as in Boufos , the northern winds of summer can cause waves and bring garbage, but on calm days, the waters remain crystal clear and ideal for swimming and observing the marine life.

If there are waves, you can follow the path that leads to the calmer, but very organized beaches of Spiliada . Between the two beaches, on a natural rise called Kefali or Kremasma , is the Minoan settlement of Boufos .

This archaeological site extends over about one hectare and is thought to have been a dependency of the nearby palace of Malia . From this point, the view of the Sellinari gorge and the sea is excellent.
