Back to newsThe Disney Dream cruise ship made a port call at Souda Bay, near Chania, bringing thousands of passengers ashore for a day visit to western Crete. The vessel, one of Disney Cruise Line's largest ships, docked at the port of Souda and was scheduled to depart at 19:00, continuing its Mediterranean itinerary toward Naples, Italy.
The influx of cruise passengers means Chania's Old Town, the Venetian harbour, and surrounding attractions experienced significantly higher foot traffic during the day. Visitors already in the area should expect busier tavernas, narrower walking lanes, and longer waits at popular sites. If you are planning a relaxed afternoon in Chania's harbour district, arriving early morning or after 19:00 will offer a quieter experience once the ship has sailed.
