The Disney Dream cruise ship made a port call at Souda Bay, near Chania, bringing thousands of passengers ashore for a day visit to western Crete. The vessel, one of Disney Cruise Line's largest ships, docked at the port of Souda and was scheduled to depart at 19:00, continuing its Mediterranean itinerary toward Naples, Italy. The influx of cruise passengers means Chania's Old Town, the Venetian harbour, and surrounding attractions experienced significantly higher foot traffic during the day.
