Crete produces a significant share of Greece's extra virgin olive oil, with centuries-old groves concentrated across Heraklion, Lasithi, Rethymno, and Chania. For visitors, this initiative signals continued investment in preserving the quality and authenticity of Cretan olive products. Tourists interested in agritourism can explore local olive mills and estates across the island, many of which offer tastings and tours, particularly during the harvest season from November through January.
