Crete Sees Norwegian Tourist Boom as Demand Surges This Summer

Monday, 13 July 2026/SourceTornos News/1 min read
Norwegian tourism to Greece is rebounding strongly this summer, with Crete ranking among the top three destinations chosen by Norwegian travelers, alongside Rhodes and Samos. Although the season got off to a slower start than previous years, demand for package holidays from Norway has risen significantly, signaling a busy second half of summer across the island. For visitors already in Crete, this uptick means popular resort areas, beaches, and attractions may see higher-than-usual crowds, particularly in well-known northern coast hubs such as Heraklion, Chania, and Elounda. Booking accommodations, rental cars, and restaurant tables well in advance is advisable. Ferry connections and airport transfers may also experience higher demand. The trend reflects broader renewed interest in Greek island holidays from northern European markets following quieter post-pandemic years.
