Back to newsGreek Coast Guard authorities intercepted a group of 33 migrants who arrived at Kaloi Limenes, a small coastal village on the southern coast of Crete. Kaloi Limenes is located in the Heraklion regional unit, roughly 70 kilometers south of Heraklion city, along a stretch of coastline known for its remote beaches and limited infrastructure. Coast Guard and local authorities responded to the scene to assist those on board. Incidents of this nature are handled by Greek border and asylum authorities and do not typically affect tourist access to the area. Visitors traveling to southern Crete beaches near Matala or Lentas may encounter temporary Coast Guard activity along coastal roads or at sea, but no disruptions to tourism facilities or access routes have been reported in connection with this event.
