Musical Theater Celebrates Nikos Xylouris, 'The Archangel of Crete'

A musical theater performance celebrating Nikos Xylouris, the legendary Cretan lyra player known as "The Archangel of Crete," will be staged on Friday, July 10 and Saturday, July 11, 2026, at 9:00 PM at the Eastern Moat Theater (Theatro Anatolikis Tafrou) in Chania. Xylouris, who died in 1980, remains one of the most beloved figures in Cretan music and Greek folk tradition. This production offers visitors a chance to experience authentic Cretan musical heritage in a historic outdoor setting.
