Wildfire in Eastern Crete Forces Evacuation in Bramiana

Monday, 6 July 2026/SourceNaftemporiki/1 min read
A wildfire broke out Monday afternoon in the agricultural and forested area of Bramiana, in the municipality of Ierapetra, in the Lasithi regional unit of eastern Crete. Greek emergency services issued an alert via the 112 system ordering the evacuation of a nearby settlement. Firefighting crews were dispatched to the scene. Ierapetra is a popular coastal destination on the south coast of eastern Crete. If you are traveling in the area, avoid the Bramiana zone until authorities declare it safe, and follow instructions from local police and emergency personnel. Keep the Greek emergency number 112 saved on your phone. Conditions in Crete during summer can spread fires quickly due to dry vegetation and strong winds, so stay alert to official alerts if you are staying or driving in rural or inland areas of eastern Crete.
