Back to newsMonday brings sunny skies across Crete with northern winds (Boriades) keeping conditions generally pleasant. Temperatures will reach up to 35°C in some inland and southern areas of the island, making it one of the hotter days of the season. Coastal areas will benefit from the northern breeze, offering some relief. Tourists spending the day outdoors should carry water, apply high-SPF sunscreen, and plan strenuous activities such as hiking or archaeological site visits for the morning hours before noon. Afternoon beach time is fine along the north coast where the wind provides a cooling effect. Those heading inland or to southern coastal villages like Matala or Plakias should expect peak heat between 13:00 and 17:00 and plan shade breaks accordingly.
