Greece's Ministry of Culture has announced the completion of the western pediment restoration of the Parthenon on the Acropolis in Athens, marking a major milestone after more than 220 years. Minister Lina Mendoni described the achievement as a significant step in the ongoing protection and promotion of the Acropolis monuments. While this work takes place in Athens rather than Crete, tourists visiting the island who plan to include Athens in their trip will find the Acropolis in an enhanced state. The restored western pediment, now returned to a more complete form, offers visitors a richer understanding of ancient Greek architecture and history. Travelers combining a Cretan holiday with an Athens stopover are encouraged to visit the Acropolis and the Acropolis Museum to see the results of this landmark conservation effort firsthand.
