160-Bed Luxury Hotel in Chania Clears Environmental Review

Monday, 18 May 2026/SourceTornos News/1 min read
A new five-star hotel with 160 beds has received environmental approval in the Chania region of western Crete. The project involves expanding and converting existing tourist facilities on the site into a fully licensed luxury property. Environmental clearance is a key regulatory step in Greece before construction or major renovation can begin, meaning the project is now cleared to move forward through the remaining permitting stages. For visitors planning trips to Chania, this signals growing investment in the area's upscale accommodation offer. Chania is already one of Crete's most visited destinations, known for its Venetian harbor, old town, and access to beaches such as Elafonisi and Balos. Once open, the hotel will add to the existing stock of premium options in the region. No opening date has been confirmed at this stage.
