Back to newsA new initiative is underway to establish a permanent direct air connection between Crete and the Epirus region of northwestern Greece. The proposed route would link Heraklion International Airport with Ioannina Airport, with a three-day delegation trip planned for November to advance the project. This connection would make it significantly easier to travel between Crete and Epirus without routing through Athens. For visitors to Crete, the route could open convenient access to the mountainous Epirus region, known for its dramatic landscapes and traditional villages, as a side trip during a longer Greek holiday. No launch date for regular scheduled flights has been confirmed yet.
