Back to newsTraffic on the BOAK highway will be disrupted at the Vamvakopoulos junction on Sunday, July 12, due to scheduled roadworks. The announcement was issued by the Chania Regional Deputy Governor's office to inform the public in advance.
The BOAK is the main east-west highway crossing Crete, connecting Chania to Heraklion and beyond. Temporary traffic management measures will be in place at the Vamvakopoulos interchange, which may cause delays or require drivers to follow alternative routes.
Tourists driving between Chania and eastern Crete on Sunday should allow extra travel time and follow signage at the junction. It is advisable to check local traffic updates before departure. The disruption is part of the ongoing BOAK construction project, which aims to modernise road infrastructure across the island.
