Scorching Heat Wave Hits Crete: 33°C Expected Thursday

Wednesday, 1 July 2026/SourceCretaOne/1 min read
Temperatures across Crete are expected to reach 33 degrees Celsius on Thursday, July 2, making it one of the hottest days so far this summer. The heat will affect the entire island, from the northern coastal cities of Heraklion and Chania to inland areas and the southern shore. Tourists should plan outdoor activities for the early morning or after 6 p.m., when temperatures begin to ease. Stay well hydrated, wear a hat and sunscreen with high SPF, and avoid prolonged sun exposure between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. Beach visits are fine, but seek shade regularly. Air-conditioned museums, such as the Heraklion Archaeological Museum, are a good midday option. Car interiors heat up quickly when parked in the sun, so keep water in a bag rather than in the vehicle.
