Back to newsThe Municipality of Heraklion has completed a series of improvements and initiatives highlighted in Mayor Alexis Kalokaerinos' weekly review. Among the notable developments, restoration and maintenance work has been carried out around the Morosini Fountain, the landmark 17th-century Venetian monument in Lions Square at the heart of the old city. The fountain remains a central reference point for visitors exploring the historic centre. The municipality has also launched new digital services aimed at streamlining access to city administration, which may benefit tourists seeking information or assistance during their stay. Lions Square and the surrounding pedestrian area continue to be fully accessible. Visitors to Heraklion can reach the Morosini Fountain on foot from the port in approximately 10 minutes, or from the bus station in around 5 minutes.
