Hydrocarbon exploration activity is ramping up southwest of Crete over the next two years. Seismic survey operations south of the island are scheduled to continue over the coming quarters, with particular focus on an offshore block in the southwestern zone. These surveys are part of Greece's broader energy exploration program in the Eastern Mediterranean. The activity takes place offshore and has no direct impact on tourism, beaches, or daily life on the island. Visitors to western and southern Crete, including popular areas such as Chania, Paleochora, and Sfakia, will not be affected. No disruption to ferry routes or coastal access is currently anticipated as a result of these operations.
